Hello! I’m Mehak, The Girl Behind the Blog.

A high schooler with a book, a laptop, and some spirit can do big things—and I’m here to prove it! I’m a 16-year-old introvert who loves talking about books, being right, and advicing others even though my own life is a mess. ( And also food. I love food. )

My goal is to create a safe space where you can explore your interests and have fun while I discover the path toward my dreams. Together, we will make mistakes, brave challenges, solve problems, and be the goofiest, truest versions of ourselves.

So, join me on this journey to growth and success by reading my blogs!

BeingMehak

The story behind the blog.

CHAPTER ONE

In 2020, my friends and I decided to write a novel amid uninteresting online classes and endless free time. Our idea was to write a story centering around us five as the main characters (Yes, I realize that makes us sound very humble). Of course, five 12-year-olds with no clue on how to write starting a 700-page novel on ourselves did not result in a masterpiece. We ended up dropping out of the idea one by one.

CHAPTER TWO

Two of them, however, continued their writing endeavors and decided to write their novels. I just so happened to be one of the two who continued. I have been working on the same idea for about two years now. Again, this did not result in a masterpiece. But, it did result in a 25,000-word long word document that keeps growing, a 1,260-pin long Pinterest board on writing, and me discovering my passion.

CHAPTER THREE

Flash forward to 2022, and I am scrolling through the internet while procrastinating school work. I stumbled upon the idea of getting into ivy league universities.

CHAPTER FOUR

Naturally, I spend the next few months worrying about my future and trying to build strong extracurriculars. I tried to re-ignite my passion for dancing. However, I remained inconsistent in my efforts, and a week in the hospital put me in an art slump. I tried to expand my mediocre digital art skills to no avail. My novel was going nowhere. Then, I learned that running a successful blog could be a useful extracurricular. It could bring all my passions and knowledge together in the form of writing. Some more research later, I learned it could earn me money.

CHAPTER FIVE

For the next few months, I watched videos and read articles about CMS, domain hosting, website design, blog writing, social media marketing, and SEO. The more I read, the tenser I got. I was just a 14-year-old with no knowledge trying to build something worth noticing in the endless expanding world that is the internet.

CHAPTER SIX

After a lot of procrastinating, I decided that was it. I’m gonna start my blog no matter what, even if it gets only zero views. I can learn along the way and correct my mistakes. I still have a lot of time. That’s how we’re here now. I started my blog, and you found it on the internet. As for my novel, how it ends remains a mystery for both me and the world. Hopefully, we’ll solve it someday soon.

Chapter seven

Fast forward: 2024.

I just finished 10th grade. It was a mess.

It was tough to keep up with my academics and maintain my blog simultaneously. I’m a perfectionist, so that makes it even harder. And let’s be real: our education system doesn’t give us any breathing space.

So, this year was rough; A lot of failures. Yet this journey wasn’t a complete mess.

I’ve had small successes. My blog got more than 100K impressions on Google, and even though it’s not massive, I see potential.

When I started BeingMehak, I didn’t want my friends or classmates to know about it. Of course, they did find out about it. And honestly, most of them were supportive. I realize now that maybe it’s best not to assume the worst of people.

They’ve truly inspired me to keep doing this blog.

Also, I’ve learned A LOT.

When I started BeingMehak, I , also , didn’t have a direction. I didn’t know what I wanted to achieve or how I would do it. I was just winging it as I went, and now I’m glad to report that I have a plan.

So, it’s two years later, and I can confidently say that BeingMehak is here to stay. Failures may come, and things may not go to plan but at least at the end of the day, I’ll have a story to share. It’s called ✹ character development✹, people! I’m doing it for the plot.

Onward we go.

Plan BeingMehak: Phase 2: Activate!

I’m about to enter 11th grade, and chances are this will be an even bigger mess. But, well

What lies ahead?

My vison for the blog is to:

  • First, write blogs about books, personal growth tips, and anything you—my audience— want to know.
  •  Gradually, build a community of cheerful people.
  • And give my friends and fellow high-schoolers a chance to collaborate and share their ideas with the world.
  • Most importantly, to create a safe space where anyone can be themselves and have fun!.

  • My laptop, duh!

Technically speaking, heroes are useless without villains. (Disclaimer: This answer applies to fictional situations only.)
